Normally around this time of the year we run a Holiday Icon Exchange, but with everything going on in real life, I sadly cannot devote the time and energy... still I want to do something fun, so let's try running a Holiday Icon Grab Bag instead!

How this will work is simple:
  1. Leave a comment at this post requesting/suggesting something CLAMP related. It can be as general as a series, character, pairing, etc. or as specific as a provided image, lyrics or resource/style. Put a brief description in the subject line to make scrolling easier

  2. Other members will reply with a CLAMP icon(s) that they made based on the above information

  3. Repeat as many times as you like, with a separate comment thread for each request/suggestion to help keep things organized

  4. On December 31st I will post all the icons/graphics here with credit for everyone to see and take. It's all about sharing presents and spreading a little holiday cheer

Sounds like fun? Then start posting requests/suggestions for people to begin working on! Hopefully there are a lot of elves out there wanting to help make things for others (feel free to spread the word using the banner above if you wish) but worry not, Santa might just drop by and make a present if they get too busy to ensure that nobody feels left out ;P

If you are a member of TCG Exchange, you can still receive card(s) for the icon(s) you make each week as per the prize distribution guidelines listed at this post.

As for the results from Week 428 and voting for Week 429, I haven't forgotten, it's just things have been kind of rough for me due to my recent job loss and there's been a lot of stuff coming up regarding it that require my attention/have more strict deadlines to deal with. I wanted to get this challenge up by December 1st though, so that's why I'm rushing to do this now... thanks for your patience and understanding. Any additional participation is allowed and welcome in the meantime, I'll post asap.

If you are looking to participate in a more traditional Secret Santa style graphic gift exchange, check out this one at calendarsquares! Sign-ups are closing soon!

Here's a reminder that we have a couple challenges running this month, as 2014 comes to an end.

Week 430's Holiday Icon Grab Bag challenge gives you the opportunity to both make and fill requests for CLAMP icons. It's fun to give and receive, so don't miss out, you have until Wednesday, December 31st at 11:59 PM Eastern to take part!

Week 431's Community Icon & Header challenge asks that you design clamp_icontest's sample icon and layout header with the theme of Crossovers (each graphic must feature at least two different characters from two different CLAMP series). You have until Friday, January 2nd at 11:00 PM Eastern to submit, the winning graphics will be used to give the community a new look in the new year!

It's a busy time of year, but your participation is always appreciated. I hope everyone that celebrates is having a happy holiday and/or otherwise enjoying the winter season, let's spread a bit more CLAMP cheer to make it all the more magical ;)

With our Holiday Icon Grab Bag well under way (don't miss out) it's time to start our final Week 431 challenge which is actually: a community icon and community header contest, you may submit up to three entries to either or both of them. The winners will become our community graphics for 2015 with credit given!

As for this year's theme, we're going to go with Crossovers. Each graphic must feature at least two different characters from two different CLAMP series. You can achieve this by combining separate images yourself, using promotional multi-series group artwork and/or choosing a series that features crossovers already (e.g. CLAMP in Card/Wonderland, Tsubusa Reservoir Chronicle), as long as its clear what two original characters and series are being represented. If you have any questions, just ask!

PART A: COMMUNITY ICON
- You may submit three different icons
- It must meet LJ requirements (100x100 pixels, 40kb or less, gif/jpg/png format)
- It must feature at least two different characters from two different CLAMP series
- It must say clamp_icontest or CLAMP Icontest; no other text is allowed
- You may use animation if you wish

Please submit your icon(s) by uploading it to an outside host that allows direct linking, then leave a screened comment to the designated thread with your icon, url, character(s) and series. Also include any additional required information and/or specific resource credits that you may have used.

PART B: COMMUNITY HEADER
- You may submit three different headers
- It cannot be any larger than 750 pixels wide and 500 pixels high
- It must feature at least two different characters from two different CLAMP series
- It must say clamp_icontest or CLAMP Icontest; additional text is allowed
- Animation is not allowed due to file-size issues
- The current layout will change to match the winning header, no need to use the same style/colours

Please submit your header(s) by uploading it to an outside host that allows direct linking, then leave a screened comment to the designated thread with your url, character(s) and series. Also include any additional required information and/or specific resource credits that you may have used.

Don't forget to read and follow these additional rules:

the rulesCollapse )

You have until Friday, January 2nd at 11:00 PM Eastern to submit. A comment will be left when submissions are officially closed, no late entries will be accepted at that time unless an official extension is announced.

If you have any questions about this challenge, just leave a separate comment here (not a reply to one of the threads). Otherwise, be creative, have fun and best of luck to you all!

You can earn cards for both parts of this challenge at TCG Exchange if you choose to participate there. Since this is technically two different contests being run in one challenge post you will be able to earn separate rewards for making icon(s) and/or header(s).

Thanks to all those who submitted these lovely icons and/or took the time to cast your vote, especially if you did both! A wonderful job by everyone but special congratulations to this week's winner(s):

without further adoCollapse )

If you have placed (1st, 2nd, 3rd or MC) this week, please leave a comment here stating whether you would like a banner (plus provide any additional image links, font names or resources you used and optionally specify the type/style of banner you prefer if so) and I will be happy to make you one asap; otherwise it will not be made. The only reason I ask members to request them first is to avoid wasting time/effort making them for those who do not wish to have one. There is also still cb_overflow available instead.

If you are a member of tcg_exchange then don't forget to claim your cards over here for participating this week! More information is provided in that post.

This month there is a Holiday Icon Grab Bag challenge running, where members can make CLAMP based requests/suggestions and have other members make icons based on them. It'll be fun, so get in the spirit of giving and receiving then start participating!

Thanks to everyone who left comments regarding my work situation, I appreciate the support! Things have been rough, because of the way I was let go I'm being forced to fight for what money I should be entitled to, which has been mentally exhausting... but I've made some recent headway, thankfully :) Hopefully 2015 will bring a more calmed down schedule, so that I can get fully back into the swing of things XD

Anyway we received 6 terrific icons, great job everyone, thanks to those who were able to submit! Now it's time for all available members to cast their votes! Please vote if you can, whether you submitted an icon or not (but especially if you entered to be fair to the other contestants) as the more votes we receive ensures more accurate results. Every last vote makes a huge difference so I'd really appreciate it if you could take the time to cast yours.

And remember that the vote you cast earns a card at TCG Exchange if you choose to participate there.

To vote leave a screened comment to this post with the numbers of your 'first and second' choice icons that you feel are best overall, in that order because that is how the points will be awarded. Here is an example of the proper voting format. Just make sure I can differentiate which of the chosen icons are first and second:

First: 45
Second: 72

Or like this:

45,72

Voting Rules
'Do's'
- You must be a member to vote, one ballot per member (excludes multiple accounts)
- You must vote for a total of two icons (no more, no less) or your vote will be discarded
- Vote for the best/most appropriate icons overall, not your favourite series/character/etc.

'Do Not's'
- Do not vote for your own icon or feel obligated to vote for your friend's icon
- Don't vote for an icon more than once... I'm not sure why you would, but just in case
- Do not reveal your entry until voting is closed or pressure people to vote for you
- Do not create multiple fake accounts to cheat, I check IP adresses and account status

If you accidently vote for the wrong number of icons, vote for the same icon twice or vote for a non-existant entry then I will reply to your comment asap and give you a chance to revote. Otherwise if you break one of the rules chances are your vote will be discarded and/or, depending on the offence, your icon may face disqualification. It is at my discretion to discard suspicious votes.

I feel like I"m taking crazy pillsCollapse )

Voting will close Monday, December 8th at 11:00 PM Eastern, giving a little extra time due to the delays. A comment will be left when voting is officially closed, no late votes will be accepted at that time unless an official extension is announced. Once voting is closed, you are free to publically display/distribute your entry as it will have no impact on the results. Winners will be posted sometime after depending on my schedule.

Ok, sorry this should have gone up earlier, but we're just way too low on votes right now to avoid multiple ties/announce accurate winners so please cast your ballot over here if you haven't already done so. I know the community has been off schedule for a while due to everything that has been happening in my real life ;-;'... but I'd appreciate any additional participation, thanks in advance guys!

In the meantime, Week 429 is looking for some submissions, none so far, the theme is Panic so let's get those creative juices flowing!

[too much information]I've always been very honest with this community, so I'll continue to do so even though this is rather difficult to post. As you guys know I've been working very hard at my job, taking on many new responsibilities and staying extra hours... it saddens me that despite this, after being put in a particularly stressful situation, HR decided to fire me last week. I am very frustrated with the entire thing and don't feel their decision is fair, but it is what it is. Please continue to be patient and understanding of me as I now put my focus into dealing with this sudden change and finding a new job.

Onto the icons! We received 9 interesting icons, thanks so much to everyone that was able to submit! Now it's time for all available members to cast their votes! Please vote if you can, whether you submitted an icon or not (but especially if you entered to be fair to the other contestants) as the more votes we receive ensures more accurate results.
